Light is more than just light. Beacons have been using light to convey information for centuries. Lighthouses use beacons to assist mariners in navigating the seas. Beacons can be used to sound alarms and alert defenses to prepare for an attack. Emergency vehicles use beacons to alert drivers and pedestrians in the area to their presence. Even survivors from a shipwreck or plane crash may use beacons to alert rescuers to their position. What's the trick? A beam of light that is easily recognizable and draws attention. Most beacon lights are colored red or amber because of their tendency to do so.
Can be found in many hardware stores, with some special variants available at regular department stores for civilian use.
