The M16 series has long been the West's answer to the AK-47, offering a lightweight, accurate, and low-recoiling assault rifle design that continues to be deployed by many armies. The A2 model features a three-round burst trigger group, which was intended to promote ammo conservation in combat.
Formerly the standard issue assault rifle of the U.S. military, it is still used by National Guard and reserve units.
