In this game, Fuel is a premium currency that can be used to purchase items from The Store and to speed up building construction/upgrades, the return of survivor(s) from missions, treating injuries, and recycling with the Recycler. Also, Crafting requires Fuel to be spent in order to craft and upgrade items.
Fuel can be purchased using Facebook credits (Facebook), Kreds (Kongregate) or directly (Armor Games). It can also be looted in small amounts during missions or earned through the TrialPay system, accessed from the "Earn Fuel" button located under the resource indicators on the left side of the compound screen. A fixed amount of Fuel can also be obtained by clearing the junk piles scattered around the compound.
Several Achievements are associated with scavenging Fuel, namely Fuel Finder, Petroleum Picker and Gas Giant.
Fuel LootingEdit
There is a cap on the amount of Fuel that can be scavenged per day. Once this cap is reached, Fuel cannot be found until the cap resets, which appears to be at 12:00AM GMT (midnight). The cap varies depending on certain undisclosed factors. It may depend on the level of the Leader and/or the amount of time in between log-ins.
Fuel can be found in any searchable location in the Dead Zone. It is randomly dropped in certain eligible containers (e.g. footlocker, desk drawer) that may be present in the selected location. While the drop rate (possibly 5% - 10% per eligible container) for Fuel resource items is unaffected by level, the type of the drop is affected. Certain Books, like Peak Oil, can also affect the rate at which Fuel drops.
Typical Fuel Drops:
- Level 1 - 4: Bottle of Fuel (+1)
- Level 5 - 9: Container of Fuel (+3)
- Level 10 - 14: Jerrycan of Fuel (+5)
- Level 15 - 27: Cans of Fuel (+10)
Fuel ProductionEdit
Other resources can be converted into Fuel using the F.U.E.L. Generator that becomes available at Level 10.
