Background
Edit
Similar to a hand axe, it performs many of the same functions as its large and unwieldy brothers, but in a smaller and handier package. An excellent tool to have on camping trips and long hikes, as well as for hacking off the occasional undead limb.
Available in hardware and camping stores.
Tactics
Edit
The Last Stand: Union City
Edit
With a high damage output and a serviceable striking distance, this melee weapon is well-balanced and very effective throughout the middle sections of the game. However, it should be replaced when more powerful melee weapons like the Fire Axe and Katana are obtained.
How to Obtain
Edit
- A Sharpened variant can be bought at King-o-Pawn. Prices are dependent on the Smarts skill. (Canal Park)
Pros
Edit
- High Damage
- Decent Reach
- Noiseless
- Good damage-to-weight ratio
Cons
Edit
- Low Knockback
- Uncommon
The Last Stand: Dead Zone
Edit
An effective melee weapon in the levels it can typically be obtained in, thanks to its combination of decent damage and a quick strike. Its only real drawback is one shared by most melee weapons, namely having to close with the enemy to attack.
How to Obtain
Edit
- It can be scavenged during Level 10+ missions.
- Level 9 Refined variants can be crafted using a Hatchet and 4 Hardened Metal at a Level 4+ Weapons Bench for 5
after scavenging the required schematic.
Recycling Products

- Hardened Metal x Variable (dependent on item quality)
