|Large Hardware Store|
Area + 1
Good source of resources for construction.
Much like their smaller counterparts, they sold a large variety of household hardware and provided special services like custom-order items and repairs before the outbreak. They also have a large amount of building supplies in stock, making them valuable for any survivor groups in need of construction resources.
- Wood, metal, cloth, construction-related components and household junk are very common.
- Construction-related melee weapons like hammers can occasionally be found.
- Food, water, medical items, other types of weapons, and gear are rare, but can sometimes be found.
The level of a large hardware store is always one level higher than the area it is located in.
Variant A is decently large and has four zombie spawns, all of which are positioned close to the resource containers concentrated in the northern, southern and eastern corners. Keeping survivors near the designated scavenger at all times is strongly recommended; it may also be wise to position a fighter or another survivor with high health between the scavenger and the spawn point in order to absorb the impact of any horde attacks.
Variant B has five zombie spawns, one in the west corner, one next to a large shelf in the north corner, one in the backroom, one in the warehouse, and one in a gardening/outdoor area of the store. Bring two or three survivors with long-ranged weapons to cover the scavenger in the open areas and a survivor with a short-ranged or melee weapon to cover the scavenger in the smaller rooms. As a combination of weapon types is needed for success, keeping survivors together in a group is the best option.
Variant C has 5 zombie spawns, two near the entrance, one in the small storage room and two in the warehouse section of the store. Survivors with long-ranged weapons placed in the middle of the warehouse and the checkout area can cover the designated scavenger from oncoming zombies.
Due to the number of containers and zombies typically present, a mission in a large hardware store should be carried out by four or five survivors.
Bringing along at least one long rifle is recommended, as the vast openness of the map makes it a formidable weapon. Its effectiveness greatly diminishes during horde attacks, however, requiring it to be sufficiently backed up by other weapons.
