Background[]
Lime is a white, or grayish-white, odorless lumpy calcium chemical compound. The term "lime" applies to either calcium oxide or calcium hydroxide (which is calcium oxide mixed with water). Lime is used in the construction of buildings, soil stabilization, treatment of sewage, and sugar refinement, among others. Lime reacts vigorously upon contact with moisture, which can cause severe chemical burns.
Found in construction sites, hardware stores, and limestone quarries.
