The Long Saw is an improvised bladed weapon featured in The Last Stand: Dead Zone.

Background[]

A modified chainsaw that extends the blade and rotary gears forward, giving survivors the same gory results at a longer reach. The exposure of the working parts, however, increases the possibility of jamming and operating hazards. Fortunately, keeping the machine well-oiled and clean can greatly reduce the chance of the motor failing on you.

Can be made at home with the proper knowledge and materials.

How to obtain[]

Tactics[]

This weapon is essentially a chainsaw on a stick. What should be noted, however, is its extremely high reach, which allows it to engage enemies at a relatively safe distance, while retaining the ammo independency of melee weapons. Combined with its high knockback, this makes for a decent support weapon, as its slow swing makes its wielder vulnerable up close. The wielder should therefore be shielded or backed up by other survivors, who can provide cover fire while the wielder recovers after each hit.

Recommended gear[]

Pros[]

  • Very High Damage
  • High Knockback
  • Long Reach (longest of all melee weapons)
  • Very Accurate

Cons[]

  • Very Loud
  • Always generates noise
  • Attacks Slowly
  • Moderate Move Speed Penalty
  • Can only be obtained through crafting
