They restore 15% Food, a fairly large amount. The primary disadvantage is its heavier weight than most other food items. Nevertheless, it is still better than the Bottle of Soda, and players should stock up on these if they can spare the extra space.

- In The Last Stand: Dead Zone, the description for the jar of pickles say that the contents are partially submerged in spring water. This is purely cosmetic, and the spring water will not be added to the compound's water supply.
