Background[]
Solvents dissolve other substances to form a solution, usually in the form of a liquid, although solid and gaseous solvents exist. Water is nature's solvent, dissolving a wide variety of chemicals, but it doesn't work with many synthetic substances. Turpentine, acetone, and ethanol, to name a few, are just some of the many different types of solvents used in construction and beauty cosmetics. These solvents are not as benevolent as water, and may be quite volatile if used improperly.
Toxic solvents can be in hardware stores, supermarkets, labs, and dressing tables, depending on the situation.
