"After several days of the failed HERC evac efforts on personnel located within the city and the withdrawn of HERC troops from remaining 'safe' districts of the city. Me and, probably, several other colleagues are stuck in this forgotten hell. I've heard on the radio that the government sealed the mainland and said no rescue or escape is available and no help of any kind will arrive; those left behind, HERC, military and civilians, are to fend for themselves.
I hate those idiots with machine guns that keep me at bay and always wanted me to follow their orders. But now that I'm free of their watch I can take my research to even bigger stakes, no ethical barriers and no schedules. I found this delerict HERC compound I'll turn into my base, I found some HERC crates and thanks to my ID I can open them and get some food and water for my survival. The weapons left can be my basic means of defense against zombies and, later, humans. I'll try to keep a low profile and, at the same time, keep up with the experiments ans research and probably, get a ticket first-class to Florida or some tropical place out of here.
No matter what it costs..."
