A material weave, handy for padding.
Weaving seems complicated, but in reality it is quite simple. At its basics, weaving is the passing of a material or thread over and under one another in a repeated pattern. Weaving is done on a loom, which may be operated automatically or manually. Many cultures and civilizations around the world have practiced weaving for centuries, largely for clothing, armor, and furniture, and are still used for these purposes to this day.
