A cake made of chopped, candied and/or dried fruits, nuts, and spices, optionally soaked in liquor, fruitcake is an iconic food typically eaten during the Christmas season. Its long-lasting nature when soaked in alcohol has made it the target of many a joke, like claiming it could be passed on as a family heirloom. For survivors of the zombie apocalypse, however, this very durability makes them highly prized even out of season.
